When I heard about this new Xbox 360 deal, I wondered, “What do you get for $99?” A CONTRACT!
Many of us own an Xbox, and in some cases, we own more than one. Perhaps Microsoft thought that they’d make it easier for you to purchase your first Xbox or your second, third or fourth with this “deal.”
In a move that I can only liken to a cell phone company, Microsoft is offering a 4GB Xbox 360 for $99. But wait, there’s more! For the low price of $99, you also get a two year agreement that stipulates that you will pay $14.99/month allowing you to access an Xbox Live Gold subscription. *canned applause*
If you decide to cancel that two year agreement early, you’ll have to pay $250. Sound familiar?
Let’s run some numbers shall we?
$99 – Xbox
+$14.99/month for two years
Normally, an Xbox 360 with a 4GB hard drive costs $199.00. Xbox Live’s Gold membership is currently $59.99 for 12-Months, $24.99 for 3-Months, and $9.99 for 1-Month. Even if you bought a 320GB Xbox 360 with the Kinect sensor and a year’s worth of Xbox Live Gold, you’d still spend less than $458.76.
I’m not sure why they’ve decided to do this, but I wanted to clarify exactly what you’re getting in this deal.
